At Make A Difference Community we firmly understand the importance of rolling up our sleeves and getting involved at the grass roots level of helping others.

This very interesting Ted talk by Elizabeth Dunn explains why donating some money to a random charity does not make us feel amazing. There is no doubt helping others makes us happier but it really does matter how we do it.

Have you read much of Simon Sinek? He wrote “Start With Why.” Simon has been a big influence and he explains we are “social animals” and we are designed to live in communities and look after each other.

The consistent message from the experts and our experience is you need to be more involved if you really want to “feel better” about helping others.

What does “feel better” mean?  It really does depend on you. However, the more you physically “get involved” the greater the impact is likely to be. At Make A Difference Community we are always on the look out for intimate volunteering experiences where our supporters can enjoy helping others at the “grass roots” level.

Why Volunteer

Encouraging your employees, clients, prospects and family to volunteer with these amazing charities is critical to eradicating hunger in our country.

The only way to truly connect more of us to solve this problem is to physically contribute. Only then do people realise so many in our community are enduring tremendous stress worrying about where their food is going to come from.

The more we give, the happier we feel. Volunteering increases self-confidence. You are doing good for others and the community, which provides a natural sense of accomplishment… And the better you feel about yourself, the more likely you are to have a positive view of your life and future goals.

Make Kenshi Candles with the Refugees from Myanmar

Bring along employees, friends and family to experience the process of making Kenshi Life Changing Candles in Sunshine North.

This is an incredible opportunity to work side by side with some of these people from Myanmar.

You will be pouring, wicking, and labelling jars. You will hear first hand the plight of how they escaped from Myanmar, enjoy some authentic cuisine and engage fully within their community. They are committed to helping their friends and family who remain back in their villages living in terrible conditions. 80% of which are living below the poverty line.

We have enormous admiration for the Chin people who are so welcoming and continue to make the most of every opportunity.

$72 plus GST per head inclusive of a traditional Burmese lunch and 2 Kenshi Candles that you have made.

The Kenshi Life Changing Candles were first created by a 14-year-old boy who wanted to change the world by making it easy for any cause to raise money by selling high-quality candles. These amazing candles fund 3kg of pasta when purchased and make a fantastic personal or corporate gift.
